The programs clinical team works collaboratively with
community based multidisciplinary teams to achieve the programs
goals of optimizing the quality of life of adults with dual
diagnosis (developmental disability and serious mental illness)
enhancing independent or interdependent community living,
reducing the need for hospitalization or institutional care,
and developing regional local partnerships.
The Developmental Disabilities Program provides the following
services:
Comprehensive psychiatric
assessment & treatment services for adults with a dual
diagnosis
Monitoring medical-therapeutic services to prevent
re-hospitalization
Linking clients to needed community services
Providing individual therapy & skill teaching to
clients when community services are not available
Providing support & education to clients
support network
Consulting with inpatient clinicians at admission or
readmission
Participating in hospital discharge planning
Assisting in research projects
