Public Education and Community Outreach

 

 

Public education is provided to increase understanding and acceptance of mental illness, to reduce stigma associated with mental illness, to increase awareness and prevention of family violence and to promote the development and maintenance of good mental health.

Education services are provided through the activities and services listed below:

"We all belong" Public Eduction Campaign
Resources for Public Education:

• Presentations, workshops and seminars

• Information displays and health fairs

• Public education campaigns such as “We All Belong”

• Resource distribution such as fact sheets, pamphlets and information packages

• Media promotion and advertizing

• Publications such as CMHA Northern Regional Branch Newsletter “Mental Health Matters”

• Annual promotion of:

• “Mental Health Week”
• “Mental Illness Awareness Week”
• “National Depression Screening Day”
• “Wife Assault Prevention Month”
• “International Women’s Day”

We also maintain a resource library which is accessible to the public.
