Northern Star Consumer/Survivor and Family Network

The Northern Star Consumer/Survivor and Family Network is committed through a self-help approach, to empower its members to develop an integrated, balanced approach to mental health, increase their potential, and learn necessary life-coping skill to enrich their lives.

The Northern Star Network maintains meeting places for its members in Kirkland Lake and New Liskeard.

The Northern Star Consumer/Survivor and Family Program accomplishes this mandate through:

• self-help support groups

• educational programs

• family support program and support groups for family members

• resource material

Northern Star also networks with other consumer/survivor initiatives across the province. Social and recreational events to enhance mental health and encourage networking among peers is also part of Northern Star’s services. The Northern Star has two centres, one in New Liskeard that service the south end of the Timiskaming district, and one in Kirkland Lake for the north end.
