Community Outreach / Transitional Support Program

 

 

The Community Outreach and Transitional Support Programs offer support services to women 16+ who are involved in or who have recently left abusive relationships.

We also provide aftercare and follow-up services to women and children who have recently left the Women’s Shelter and are now living in the community.

The Community Outreach Program offers support to women who are involved in or who have recently left abusive relationships.
Services provided include:

• crisis intervention
• safety planning
• information and referral
• one to one supportive counselling
• education about the dynamics of woman abuse
• assistance in accessing financial, legal and social resources
• accompaniment services
• advocacy
• support groups
• public education about woman abuse

Women can access Community Outreach services Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by calling 267-8100.

The Transitional Support Program can be accessed by calling the Women’s Shelter at 1-705-273-2339 or toll-free in northern Ontario at 1-866-993-2339 , Tuesday through Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Referrals can also be initiated by social services organizations, health professionals, police, family and friends.
