Skills Development and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation

Adults experiencing mental health difficulties may benefit from participating in the wide range of social, recreational and vocational opportunities offered through Intrepid Place Timmins and Community Contact Centre Kirkland Lake.

This service offers a wide variety of physical, educational, social, and creative activities designed to assist individuals with mental illness to develop and maintain optimum levels of mental and physical health. Program activities and events provide opportunities for members to meet other people and to have fun.

Consumer/Survivors meet for recreation at Intrepid Place.

Participation in program activities assists members to:

• develop and build their self-confidence
• learn a variety of life skills
• increase socialization activities
• strengthen informal support networks
• foster peer support
• belong to a supportive community

Most activities take place outside of the office setting in order to encourage members to adapt and connect with their community.

Referrals to Intrepid Place can be initiated by a family doctor, social service organization, psychiatrist or by contacting the Canadian Mental Health Association directly.
