Women's Shelter

The Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Timiskaming Branch offers a number of services and supports through the Women’s Shelter. Residential services are offered to women (16+) and their children who require emergency housing as a result of violence and crisis in their lives.

The Women’s Shelter is a safe and secure ten bed home where a woman can go to protect herself and her children from violence and abuse. In this supportive environment, a woman can focus on her personal needs and choices as well as on her children’s needs.

The Women's Shelter provides a secure and safe place for women experiencing domestic violence.

Services provided during a woman’s stay include:

• crisis intervention
• one-to-one supportive counselling
• education and information on the dynamics of woman abuse
• advocacy
