Volunteer Services

Volunteer services is a human resource to the work of the Branch. Volunteers are unpaid workers who intentionally contribute their efforts toward the achievement of Branch goals and objectives. They operate under the same philosophy and mandate and provide support to all aspects of Branch activity.

Volunteers receive training and support through a coordinator and gain experience in a wide variety of opportunities, resulting in the development of new skills and relationships. The Branch endeavours to provide a variety of volunteer experiences such as:

A volunteer worker helps a consumer/survivor with her banking and day-to-day business.

• governance opportunities on the Board of Directors, Advisory Committees and Ad Hoc Committees to provide relevant accountable direction to the Branch
• fund raising opportunities to enhance the Branch’s direct service and educational activities
• direct service opportunities to enhance the quality of life of those served and to intensify the focus of the work of paid employees
• administrative opportunities to support and enhance the infrastructure of the Branch office expanding the capacity of all supports and services

Volunteers may be individuals who have a mental illness and incorporate their volunteer work into a recovery or wellness plan. They may be family members or friends, students of secondary school or post secondary schools or concerned citizens seeking opportunities to use their personal gifts and talents, time and energy to learn new skills while assisting others.

For more information, contact the Co-ordinator of Volunteer Services at any of our branch offices from Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
